The Armed Forces Tribunal (AFT) is a specialized court in India that hears cases and appeals related to the Indian Armed Forces. It was established in 2007 with the aim of providing speedy and fair justice to members of the armed forces. The AFT has jurisdiction over a wide range of matters, including service matters, pension cases, and disciplinary proceedings.
The AFT operates as a appellate court, hearing appeals from lower courts and tribunals, as well as original cases. It also has the power to review its own decisions. The AFT is comprised of a Chairperson and such other members as the Central Government may, from time to time, appoint.
