NDPS ACT
NDPS Act is the key to combat drug misuse
The Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, is another name for this legislation. It covers the entirety of India and all Indian nationals living outside of India; all passengers on ships and aero planes with Indian registrations, wherever they may be. In 1985, Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS ACT) was introduced to combat misuse of drugs and controlling its manufacturing, sale and distribution. Narcotic medicines cause drowsiness, but psychotropic chemicals affect the mind and alter it for the better. The NDPS Act was approved by the Indian Parliament on November 14th, 1985.
